Don (he/him) was born in Aotearoa/New Zealand of Scottish descent and studied music in Canberra. He was principal trombone with the TSO for 23 years until 2013 when he took up roles at ABC Radio including Live (and subsequently Senior) Music Producer, then Executive Producer of Music Production. He is a composer for film, television, theatre, and advertising (since 1997) and an independent music producer since 2000. Don is the founder of the Benjafield Collective and led numerous culturally diverse projects in Lutruwita incuding Mkono Kwa Mkono (featuring noted Ethiopian singer Seble Girma) and Power Hip Hop (working with south Sudanese and Australian emerging hip hop artists) – both collaborations with Kickstart Arts and TSO.
